The Emergency Preparedness Fellowship Program at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a 1-year program (with a vested option for extension) designed to provide career and professional development in a healthcare setting for a current student in a recognized Master's program or a recent graduate. This fellowship prepares the candidate for leadership opportunities in emergency management, public health preparedness, healthcare emergency preparedness, and related fields by offering direct participation in activities that build and strengthen essential planning, mitigation, response, and recovery skills. The program follows a quarterly structure to guide and demonstrate competencies through specific tasks. Fellows will be prepared to apply for AEM/CEM certifications by the end of the fellowship. The Fellow will work with the Emergency Preparedness Team, acting as a leader, advisor, and participant in developing and implementing emergency management policies and practices. This role involves engaging with senior management on planning organizational needs, goals, objectives, and criteria for creating essential plans, policies, procedures, and job aids to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, vendors, and staff at CHOP.
