About The Position

Provides oversight to Emergency Management Preparedness for SBLFCH. The coordinator provides supportive services to the Departments supporting quality safe patient care and continual survey readiness. The coordinator maintains relationships with outside agencies to facilitate community planning. The job activities include managing critical areas of communications, resources and assets, safety and security, staff responsibilities, utilities, and patient clinical and support. Hours vary - approx. 8 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High School (Required)
  • BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • CHEC-Certified Healthcare Emergency Mgmt Coordinator (within 2 years of hire)
  • CHEP-Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional
  • Hazardous Material First Receiver (within 1 year of hire)
  • HSEP-Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the Hazard Vulnerability Assessment for the Health System annually and as needed based on local, regional, national, and international trends and events and assists in developing action plans as needed.
  • Attend and participate in local emergency planning committee meetings (LEPC).
  • Attend and participate in Region 6 Healthcare Coalition Emergency Preparedness meetings.
  • Chairs the Emergency Management committee and participates in other committees as requested.
  • Collaborates and communicates with federal, state and local community network organizations within SBL service area including but not limited to EMS Region 6, Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), fire departments, health departments, coalitions, Red Cross.
  • Coordinates and plans pediatric specific education and activities to support EDAP regulatory requirements and preparedness.
  • Develops and facilitates educational programs for identified educational opportunities, emergency management/safety training and regulatory requirements including but not limited to HazMat and NIMS education.
  • Develops and maintains the emergency operations plan, policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements for emergency preparedness.
  • Maintains and obtains emergency preparedness supplies/equipment including surge capacity and HazMat equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains communication and updates to appropriate leadership in Emergency Preparedness needs.
  • Maintains proficiency in radio operations including but not limited to VHF, UHF, Starcom 21.
  • Performs required drills including After Action Reports (AAR) and improvement plans for continual disaster preparedness.
