About The Position

MercyOne is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to join their team. This role is responsible for coordinating and supporting the Emergency Preparedness for the Health System. The coordinator will plan, implement, maintain, and evaluate emergency preparedness activities to ensure organizational readiness for various types of emergencies. This includes assisting with compliance related to CMS, The Joint Commission, FEMA, OSHA, and other emergency management standards. The position involves coordinating training, exercises, emergency operations planning, hazard vulnerability assessments, and response activities in collaboration with leaders and community partners. The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator will also serve as a resource for emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and continuity planning throughout the Health System.

Requirements

  • FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) certifications 100, 200, 700, 800, and 2200 required (or obtained within established timeframe after hire).
  • Valid Driver’s License required must meet Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and be eligible to drive per Iowa/Illinois state law.
  • Knowledge of hospital emergency management requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population serviced within three (3) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in emergency preparedness, emergency management, healthcare safety, or related discipline preferred.
