About The Position

Fort Bend County is seeking an Emergency Planning Coordinator, a grant-funded position within Health & Human Services, focusing on Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response. This role is crucial for developing emergency response plans and managing the logistical distribution of mass prophylaxis, such as from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), to residents in anticipation of public health emergencies. The coordinator will also plan and execute training exercises, coordinate with regional, state, and national agencies, and provide training to local response partners. This position involves participation in drills, evaluations, and deployment during disaster declarations, working closely with the FBC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Office and the FBC HHS Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as health care, emergency response, public health, or community emergency planning.
3 years of job-related work experience.
Excellent computer, verbal and written communication, project management, and organizational skills.
Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
Valid Driver License.

Responsibilities

Develops emergency response plans and manages the operational and logistical distribution of mass prophylaxis (SNS) to residents of Fort Bend County.
Plans and coordinates training exercises for the mobilization of assets for prophylactic measures following a public health emergency involving the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) and CHEMPACK assets management.
Coordinates Fort Bend County’s planning and activities with appropriate regional, state, and national agencies and partners.
Provides training and education for local response partners on the plan for medication distribution.
Executes and evaluates emergency plans through participation in local and/or state-sponsored drills.
Works with the FBC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Office and the FBC HHS Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator to ensure adequate staffing for distribution sites and other activities.
Participates in activities and duties related to public health and other emergency events and deployment during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate HHS leadership.
