About The Position

Sheridan Community Hospital is seeking a PRN Emergency Room Physician (MD/DO) to join our patient-centered Emergency Department team. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required
  • Completion of an accredited residency program (minimum 3 years)
  • Active Michigan medical license required
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a high-acuity environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, triage, assess, and treat patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and gather detailed patient histories
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging studies
  • Provide emergency and critical care treatment, including stabilization and resuscitation
  • Manage patient disposition including admission, transfer, or discharge
  • Perform procedures including: Laceration repair, wound care, Splinting and fracture stabilization, Incision and drainage, Procedural sedation and regional anesthesia, Lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, arthrocentesis, Airway management, venous and arterial access
  • Administer medications and develop treatment plans
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care
  • Document patient encounters accurately in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards
