About The Position

UnityPoint Health is actively recruiting for an Emergency Medicine Physician to join their team in Central Iowa. This is a PRN opportunity with an academic tilt, serving four unique Emergency Departments: Iowa Methodist Medical Center (IMMC), Iowa Lutheran Hospital (ILH), Methodist West (MW) Hospital, and Grinnell Regional Medical Center. IMMC is a tertiary care facility with a Level 1 trauma center and adult-only ED. ILH is a Level IV trauma center serving all ages, with a significant mental health patient population. Methodist West is a center of excellence for Orthopedic and Maternity services. Grinnell Regional Medical Center offers a rural medicine experience. The role involves practicing clinically across all four EDs, with opportunities for teaching, scholarly activity, and non-clinical involvement. Requirements

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM).
  • Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa.
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician’s field of practice.
  • Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt).

Responsibilities

  • Practice clinically across all four Emergency Departments: Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Methodist West Hospital, and Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
  • Provide coverage for approximately 1560 hours per year.
  • Work shifts of varying durations (12, 9, and 8 hours) depending on the location.
  • Show explicit interest in educating EM residents.
  • Be involved with non-clinical activities such as education, scholarly activity, and other initiatives that advance departmental and organizational goals.
  • Work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities served.
  • Utilize excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills.
