About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for an Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at an 8-bed Emergency Department (ED) with an annual volume of 10,158. The facility is a Level III trauma center with 36 beds, and a physician is on-site. The role involves providing comprehensive patient care to all age groups, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and performing procedures as permitted. The position requires collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers, accurate documentation, and patient education. The assignment begins on August 21st, with specific shifts available in August and September. Mandatory orientation is required one day prior to the first scheduled shift. Credentialing takes approximately 30 days, with temporary privileges available.

Requirements

  • Active Michigan licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Michigan OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Michigan
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans

  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
