Emergency Medicine Medical Director / Department Chair
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced, board-certified Emergency Medicine physician to serve as Medical Director and Chair of the Emergency Services Department at a full-service critical access hospital on the North Carolina coast. This is a full-time employment role combining direct clinical care with departmental leadership. The physician will practice in a collaborative environment while overseeing operations, staffing, quality, and performance improvement. The Emergency Department has approximately 20–25 beds and sees roughly 20,000–25,000 annual visits. The role involves leadership of a team consisting of several physicians and a larger group of advanced practice providers. The department has Telestroke support and an affiliation with a nearby academic medical center’s Department of Emergency Medicine. This is an employment model with hospital privileges.
Requirements
- Board-certified Emergency Medicine physician
- Prior leadership or administrative experience
Responsibilities
- Overseeing operations, staffing, quality, and performance improvement of the Emergency Services Department.
- Providing direct clinical care in the Emergency Department.
- Leading a team of physicians and advanced practice providers.
