Emergency Medical Technician
About The Position
Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events. and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Requirements
- Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
- Valid Class 4 driver's license
- International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
- Conflict resolution skills
- Basic - Computer skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Verbal communication skills
- Written Communication Skills
- Listening skills
- Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
- Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
- Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations
- Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
- Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
- knowledge of legislation and regulations which governs practice
- Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to use sound clinical judgement
- Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
