About The Position

Baptist Health is hiring an EMT or AEMT to join its Transport EMS team at Baptist Health Lexington. This full-time position is scheduled for 36 hours over three days per week on the second shift. The EMT provides emergency medical care and transportation to patients, with professionalism, compassion, and medical expertise to support patient safety and well-being during critical situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Kentucky EMT-Advanced Certification for AEMT.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification issued by AHA or ARC.
• Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify injuries, illnesses, or medical emergencies.
• Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families during transport.
• Monitor vital signs and adjust treatment interventions as necessary to support patient stability and comfort.
• Lift and move patients to and from stretchers, frequently lifting more than 250 pounds in a team setting.
• Safely transport patients to medical facilities using designated EMS vehicles.
• Communicate with receiving medical personnel and provide detailed patient handovers, including the patient's condition, treatment provided, and pertinent medical history.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, treatments, and transportation activities.
• Complete patient care reports (PCRs) promptly and document relevant information.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and agencies to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensure EMS equipment and supplies are stocked, maintained, and functional.
• Perform routine checks and inspections of EMS vehicles to verify operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.
• Report equipment malfunctions or vehicle deficiencies to appropriate personnel.
