About The Position

Wander Staffing is seeking fifteen (15) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Instructors to support the Medical Education & Training Campus (METC) at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This role is an opportunity for experienced EMTs and Paramedics to move into instruction and help prepare students in emergency lifesaving care, trauma response, and casualty stabilization. The Medical Education & Training Campus (METC), a Defense Health Agency direct reporting organization located at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, is the Department of Defense's consolidated enlisted medical training institution. Spanning more than 1 million square feet, METC delivers 31 multi-service and 18 single-service programs of instruction for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, with active EMT/Paramedic licensure and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Instructor Training Course (ITC) completed within the past five (5) years, or ability to complete it within 30 days of hire or when the next training seat is available
  • Ability to complete required METC instructor onboarding and certification, including CFD-IC, CTC, MIO, supervised teaching, and evaluations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning and instructional methods
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Teach emergency lifesaving care, trauma response, and casualty stabilization using approved EMT and Combat Medic course materials
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction through lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and practical activities using current EMT standards of care
  • Help develop and update lesson plans, tests, handouts, and course content covering areas such as trauma care, TCCC, limited primary care, medical evacuation, force protection, CBRN-related content, and trauma scenarios
  • Maintain attendance, grades, and training records; administer and review exams; and provide tutoring or remedial instruction when needed
  • Provide course feedback, participate in required training and meetings, and follow applicable institutional, accreditation, and regulatory requirements
