About The Position

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for a PRN position. As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) joining our team, you're embracing a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. This role functions as a team member in various capacities including EKG tech, Code 0 team member, Dr. Red (fire) team, Dr. Armstrong (security) team, and Hazmat team. The EMT will take an assistant role in triage as requested by the team leader and demonstrate the ability to assist with ED patients from triage to discharge under the direction of the ED physician or RN. The EMT will perform procedures within their EMS Scope of practice and transport patients to procedures or hospital inpatient units upon admission. Additionally, the EMT will participate in precepting EMS students, job shadowing opportunities, and public tours to make a positive impression of EMS, while actively demonstrating clinical professionalism when precepting new employees. The role also includes completing run audits and QA assignments monthly, attending staff meetings, run reviews, mandatory education, and participating in committee activities, as well as run report documentation and charge batching.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Current valid Class D (Chauffeurs) Iowa driver’s license
  • Current valid Iowa EMT certification as applicable
  • Must also submit motor vehicle record to People Services department during screening process
  • Current BCLS
  • Iowa Mandatory Reporter – Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certificate

Nice To Haves

  • Experience (paid or volunteer) as a FR or EMT preferred.
