This role performs medical patient assessments, establishes care priorities, and renders necessary and appropriate care within policy, protocol, and scope of practice. The EMT assesses, plans, implements, and collaborates with other providers to ensure excellence in patient and family care during pre-hospital emergency care and during transportation to a medical facility. The EMT works in coordination with Paramedic and Clinical Supervisor to complete staff duties and assignments. The EMT accurately documents assessments and treatments of patients using the WATRS reporting system in accordance with Wyoming State statutes. The EMT operates vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and departmental policies, and must maintain a driving record that allows for coverage by IMH’s vehicle insurance carrier. The EMT assures that ambulances and station are maintained, clean, stocked, and ready for service at all times, and performs routine and minor vehicle and station maintenance to ensure safe and proper function. The EMT floats to trained departments to assist with medical treatment of patients in other departments of Ivinson under the direction of the MD and RN within their scope of practice as defined by the State of Wyoming during downtime from transfers. When requested during surges in patient volumes, the EMT will assist with medical treatment of patients in other departments of Ivinson under the direction of the MD and RN within their scope of practice as defined by the State of Wyoming. The EMT develops and maintains professional working relationships with inter- and intra-departmental personnel. Completes all mandatory education programs within established deadlines and participates in departmental training programs to maintain skills, knowledge, and abilities required of their scope of practice. Call and rotating shifts are required.

Requirements

Wyoming Office of EMS issued EMT license
Maintains EMT license and knowledge of professional standards related to protocols, clinical practice, skill proficiency, staffing, and continuing education.
Must maintain current Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator.
Must be BLS certified upon hire or within 60 days of hire and must maintain certification throughout employment with IMH.
Must certify in a de-escalation program as approved by IMH within the first six months of hire and must maintain certification throughout employment with IMH.
Must have a current, valid, driver’s license and be eligible for IMH liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
At least six months of experience as EMT preferred.
Previous experience in a medical field preferred.
National Registry preferred.
Emergency Vehicle Operations Course – Ambulance certification within six (6) months of employment.
