About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician provides out-of-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients, including non-emergency/routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies. Functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. Completes incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician by the State of Alabama.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR/AED First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Must be able to lift/push up to 200 pounds.
  • Must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the University of Alabama campus and surrounding area.
  • Functional understanding of basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.
  • Functional understanding of communications equipment, including telephone, 2-way radios, and recording equipment.
  • Working knowledge of data entry and Microsoft Office.
