About The Position

This role involves responding to emergency calls and providing immediate, efficient care to critically ill and injured patients. The EMT-Basic will conduct patient assessments, administer basic emergency medical care, support medication administration, monitor patient conditions, safely transport patients, maintain equipment and vehicles, and collaborate with advanced medical personnel.

Requirements

  • Current Tx EMT-B certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and protocols.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must be capable of lifting, carrying, and balancing up to 125 pounds (250 with assistance) and possess the stamina to work long hours in challenging environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Postsecondary education in emergency medical services is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls and provide efficient and immediate care to critically ill and injured patients at the scene.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans and interventions.
  • Administer basic emergency medical care including CPR, oxygen therapy, and the use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
  • Support patient medication administration as per medical protocols, including assisting with medications like nitroglycerin, albuterol, and epinephrine.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions and their responses to treatment, ensuring all records are detailed and accurate.
  • Safely transport patients to healthcare facilities while ensuring ongoing patient care and comfort.
  • Maintain medical and communication equipment, as well as ensure readiness of the emergency vehicle.
  • Collaborate with advanced medical personnel for escalated patient care needs.
