About The Position

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join their Level 1 Trauma Center. This role will be full time, working three 12-hour shifts weekly on a day shift schedule, Monday – Friday with rotating weekends. The shift hours are from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm. All candidates must be able to attend an initial 6-week training, Monday-Friday. Requirements

1 year of EMT-B experience
High School Diploma or GED
BLS and EMT-B certification
Must either be active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current Virginia EMT License/Certification
Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Computer skills.

Responsibilities

Documents all required fields in medical records, computer entries and charges.
Applies orthopedic splinting devices.
Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures.
Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.
Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical (per policy of Operating Unit).
Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.
Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures.
Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
