About The Position

Terros Health is seeking a motivated and compassionate EMT (C.A.R.E.) to join our team in Flagstaff. As part of the Community Alliance Response Engagement (C.A.R.E.) Team, the CARE EMT will work alongside a behavioral health specialist to respond to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use concerns, dispatched through the Flagstaff 911 Dispatch Center. This role utilizes best practices for basic life support integrated with crisis intervention to support individuals and families in crisis. Requirements

Current Certification & Licensures as an Arizona Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT)
Proficiency with computer-based systems including electronic health records, Microsoft Outlook, and other Microsoft Office products.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must have or be able to attain CPR/First Aid Certification within 60 days of assuming role.
Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, be (21 years of age) with minimum 4 years driving experience and meet requirements of Terros Health’s driving policy.
Driving is an essential function of this position.
Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card (Level 1) or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card within 7 working days of employment.
Ability to perform physical demands associated with this role.

Responsibilities

Provide basic life support assessment and treatment within the scope of the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System Emergency Medical Care Technician certification (“EMCT”).
Determine if an individual requires medical care greater than basic life support assessment and treatment, and contact 9-1-1 Dispatch if necessary.
Take responsibility for the medical care of an individual until an appropriate transfer of care can be completed.
Critically assess situations and call for additional resources as needed.
Identify and manage life-threatening problems and assist partner(s) in managing them.
Obtain manual vital signs.
Interact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
Manage unpredictable or emergency situations.
Professionally interact with all levels of pre-hospital care providers from various agencies within the response region.
Interact directly with patients, families, the public, local community groups, law enforcement personnel, fire department personnel, physicians and nurses, as needed.
Safely work around violent and other high-risk patient populations.
Assess each situation; remain calm in high stress situations and work around loud noises and flashing lights.
Document patient care.
Provide care for the physical and developmental needs of patients across the life span.
Assist partner in ensuring that CARE vehicle and workstations are stocked, cleaned, and ready for daily use.
Demonstrate expert knowledge in ALS and BLS equipment (set up, use, & management).
Engage in immediate treatment/safety planning in a variety of settings including public areas, individual residences, and businesses.
Support psychiatric hospital placements by providing coordination, planning, and facilitation with hospital staff in support of partner.
Maintain client records and complete required documentation in the electronic health record in an accurate and timely manner.
Display flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
