The Emergency Management Specialist, Senior is responsible for directing the municipal branch and fostering collaboration with municipalities and universities within Broward County. Key responsibilities encompass providing information and support for credentialing personnel in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), maintaining emergency contacts for municipalities, delivering training to municipal and regional representatives, conducting incident management system training, supporting municipal exercises and trainings, and disseminating pertinent emergency management information to partner agencies. Additionally, this role manages the Vulnerable Populations Registry and grants access credentials to municipalities utilizing the registry. As part of the Operations Section, the role involves evaluating comprehensive emergency plans for healthcare facilities. It may also entail reviewing, updating, or developing emergency management plans such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, procedures, checklists, guides, and other hazard-specific plans. The position may assist with various projects within the Operations Section to ensure operational readiness. Subject to recall during disasters and other emergencies, with potential weekend, holiday, and shift work during such events. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential for effective communication with a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience in managing a major aspect of emergency response in an Emergency Operations Center setting is highly beneficial. Other duties may be assigned by the section manager and support the goals of emergency management through assigned job duties. Works independently with limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
