Assists in the coordination of system-wide Prisma Health emergency management efforts including education and training of staff; drills and exercises; maintaining records, equipment, and supplies; and support of other Emergency Management staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or related field of study.
  • Completion of FEMA Independent Study (IS) Courses 100, 200, 700, and 800 required within 30 days of hire.
  • Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases and data entry)
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
  • Knowledge of mass notification, incident command, and inventory software systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree and two (2) years related experience may be considered (in lieu of education and experience requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Provides education and training to staff regarding emergency management plans, equipment, and supplies.
  • Supports the implementation of ongoing education of staff on the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS).
  • Oversees management and implementation of First Receiver Awareness (FRA) and First Responder Operations (FRO) training.
  • Partners with Environment of Care to satisfy OSHA requirements for hospital-based first receivers of victims from incidents involving the release of hazardous substances.
  • Assists in planning, conducting, and evaluating emergency management drills and exercises in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Maintains all education, training, and exercise records, including After Action Reports (AARs) and Improvement Plans (IPs).
  • Maintains all disaster equipment and supplies in a clean, secure location and ensure that all disaster resources are easily accessible and available for rapid deployment during a disaster.
  • Conduct annual disaster inventory in accordance with Joint Commission and grant regulations.
  • Monitors and oversees emergency preparedness supplies and equipment for hospital's decontamination units.
  • Maintains mass notification systems so that they are current and functional; conduct quarterly communication drills.
  • Provides support for Emergency Management staff.
  • Sets up and maintains departmental records, including but not limited to reports, committee minutes, agendas, time and attendance information, policies and procedures and forms.
  • Participates with internal and external task forces, committees, and agencies regarding emergency management including those at hospital, local, and state levels as required.
  • May serve in a HICS role or act as a liaison staff during an emergency or disaster.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
