About The Position

Vermont Emergency Management is seeking a mission-driven professional for its Planning Section. This role will collaborate with Emergency Management Planners to support various emergency management planning initiatives. Key responsibilities include assisting state agencies in developing disaster response and recovery plans, providing technical assistance in planning, data collection, and analysis. The position will specifically contribute to the development of incident-specific annexes for the State Emergency Management Plan and support planning for the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC). The hired individual is expected to reside in Vermont and be available to travel to Waterbury occasionally. The hours and duration of this temporary position are flexible and can be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in emergency management, public administration, risk management, or related field AND (1) year or more of experience in emergency management or planning.
  • OR Four (4) years or more of experience in emergency management, public administration, risk management, or related field.
  • Must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position including Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience involving the federal EPCRA/Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA) and HMEP Grants Management.
  • Experience in emergency management and/or as a first responder.
  • Knowledge of Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Support a broad range of emergency management planning efforts.
  • Assist state agencies to develop plans to respond to and recover from the effects of disasters.
  • Provide technical assistance in planning, data collection, and analysis.
  • Support the development of incident-specific annexes to the State Emergency Management Plan.
  • Support planning efforts for the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
