About The Position

The Emergency Dispatcher receives emergency and non-emergency calls, determines the nature and/or severity of the call, and dispatches emergency services by using radio and telecommunications systems to transmit details to appropriate emergency services departments/personnel to respond as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse populations
• Ability to hold strict confidentiality
• Proficient in Law Enforcement ten code
• Ability to remain calm in various situations
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
• Must possess or obtain Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) or Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certifications within one (1) year of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain the National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications listed below: ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, IS-700: National Incident Management System An Introduction.
• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
