About The Position

Sentara Independence is currently hiring an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join the team! This role is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on a 7 AM to 7 PM shift, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. An ED Tech assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. They perform patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse, making them an integral part of the Emergency Department Team. Key tasks include starting IVs, performing EKGs, point-of-care testing, drawing blood cultures, taking vital signs, and stocking supplies.

Requirements

Clinical - <1 year
EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR Current students enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy).
Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.
