About The Position

Sentara is hiring an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This is a Full-Time position working 36 hours per week on the night shift. An ED Tech assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. They perform patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse, making them an integral part of the Emergency Department Team. Key tasks include starting IV's, performing EKGs, Point of Care testing, drawing blood cultures, taking vital signs, and arrival prioritization and stocking.

Requirements

  • Clinical - <1 year
  • EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR Current students enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy).
  • Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.
