About The Position

HSHS St. Vincent Hospital is seeking an ED Tech to join our Emergency Department (ED). Ideal candidates are patient-focused, mission-driven caregivers looking for an opportunity to apply clinical knowledge in a fast-paced environment with complex acuities. The Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with patient comfort, safety, and basic needs. This role supports the nursing staff in the efficient operation of the Emergency Department, ensuring a high standard of care for all patients.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or related vocational training is required.
6 months of experience in an acute setting patient care role is required.
EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, active enrollment in EMT Paramedic program with IV training completion or CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) certification is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Nice To Haves

6 months of experience in emergency trauma care is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Assist with patient comfort, safety, and basic needs.
Support nursing staff in the efficient operation of the Emergency Department.
Perform basic patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and monitoring intake and output.
Transport patients as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized patient environment.
Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
Respond to patient call lights and requests promptly.
Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
