About The Position

HSHS St. Vincent Hospital is seeking an ED Tech to join our Emergency Department (ED). Ideal candidates are patient-focused, mission-driven caregivers looking for an opportunity to apply clinical knowledge in a fast-paced environment with complex acuities. The Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with patient comfort, safety, and basic needs. This role supports the nursing staff in the efficient operation of the Emergency Department, ensuring a high standard of care for all patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or related vocational training is required.
  • 6 months of experience in an acute setting patient care role is required.
  • EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, active enrollment in EMT Paramedic program with IV training completion or CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of experience in emergency trauma care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with patient comfort, safety, and basic needs.
  • Support nursing staff in the efficient operation of the Emergency Department.
  • Perform basic patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and monitoring intake and output.
  • Transport patients as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized patient environment.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Respond to patient call lights and requests promptly.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
