About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician/Unit Clerk is a key member of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department care team, providing hands-on patient care and clerical support under the direction of nursing staff. The role supports patients, families, nurses, and providers in a 24-hour Emergency Department at a critical access hospital. It is suited to someone who thrives on teamwork, multitasking, and meaningful patient interaction.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current EMT or LNA licensure.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Basic computer proficiency and comfort with office equipment.
Ability to perform clinical functions as directed by nursing staff.

Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical support to Emergency Department patients, including taking vital signs, monitoring, point-of-care testing, performing EKGs, assisting with mobility, and observing patients for safety.
Perform unit clerk duties, including order transcription, EMR documentation, managing patient records, and facilitating communication across the care team.
Prepare patient rooms and maintain supplies and equipment to support efficient Emergency Department operations.
Follow infection prevention and safety standards.
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to support timely, compassionate, and coordinated emergency care.
