About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital is currently hiring an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) for a part-time day shift position located in Norfolk, VA. This role is considered a great gateway to begin a career in the medical field, allowing individuals to work in either inpatient or outpatient Emergency Department settings. The primary responsibilities of this position include performing lab draws, conducting EKGs, and assisting nurses and doctors with patient care. Requirements

  • High School Grad or Equivalent
  • Clinical experience - <1 year
  • De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents
  • New incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum Education: EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR Current students enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy)
  • Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above
