About The Position

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Heart of Hopi Country – Northeastern Arizona The Community – Polacca, AZ Polacca sits at the base of First Mesa on the Hopi Reservation in northeastern Arizona, surrounded by the dramatic mesas, buttes, and high-desert landscapes of the Colorado Plateau. About the Facility – Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC) Hopi Health Care Center is a Joint Commission-accredited Critical Access Hospital and the only healthcare facility on the Hopi Reservation, serving approximately 18,000 people. HHCC provides 24/7 Emergency Department services, a four-bed short-stay inpatient unit, and business-day ambulatory services including medical, dental, physical therapy, optometry, and public health. Working at HHCC provides a unique opportunity to serve a historically underserved community while gaining valuable experience in rural nursing and Indian Health Service operations. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC, PALS, and/or ENPC preferred.
  • Rural/remote, Critical Access Hospital, or IHS/Tribal healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients presenting to the HHCC Emergency Department, including triage, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and discharge.
  • Manage high-acuity patients in a rural Critical Access Hospital environment with limited in-house specialty support.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other treatments as ordered.
  • Coordinate patient transfers to higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
  • Participate in emergency response, disaster response, and mass casualty protocols.
  • Document all clinical encounters in the EHR per facility policies.
