About The Position

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in City, State. The unit has 32 beds and sees an average of 90-110 patients daily. This role requires a minimum of 2+ years of Emergency Department experience for travelers, and 4 years minimum for CAP. First-time travelers are not accepted. Patient types include general ED complaints such as abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, and behavioral health patients. Geriatrics are common, with rare pediatric cases and occasional labor and delivery patients. The staffing ratios are RN: 1:4 and PCT: 1:6-12. Required licenses and certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, MOAB, and 12 or CPIS. General Emergency Department skills are essential, along with soft skills like being a team player, organized, having strong communication, and good time management. Support staff includes PCTs, Receptionists/HUCs, a Charge Nurse (who does not take patients), and Phlebotomists available 24/7. The technology and equipment used include EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing. Orientation and training involve general hospital orientation, 1-2 shifts on the unit, followed by 2-3 shifts to learn the facility. CAP will work in numbers for 2-3 weeks to learn the flow of the unit before pairing with a resident. Scheduling includes every other weekend rotation and as needed holiday expectations. Time off approval is for up to 7 days, with additional days requiring an email to the Nurse Manager. Shift times vary, and mid-ever contracts are considered. Nights are typically 4-6 weeks, pending resident assignment. The FTE schedule cycle is every 4 weeks. Additional information includes that scrub colors can be any and parking is free. Requirements
