About The Position

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, conducts critical patient assessments, and ensures optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an emergency or critical care setting preferred.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Triage patients effectively to prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury.
  • Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies.
  • Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators.
  • Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care.
  • Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions.
  • Adhere to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics.
