About The Position

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, conducts critical patient assessments, and ensures optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.

Requirements

Current RN license in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an emergency or critical care setting preferred.
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health.
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary.
Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
Triage patients effectively to prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury.
Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies.
Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators.
Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care.
Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions.
Adhere to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols.
Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics.
