The Registered Nurse Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional providing patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, the nurse adapts to changing situations and personalizes care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. The role serves as a resource for colleagues and advocates for patients and families. The nurse delivers safe, effective, independent care using the nursing process; assesses patients; develops and adjusts care plans with patient and family input; documents care; identifies learning needs; and individualizes care to account for cultural differences. The role also collaborates with interdisciplinary care partners, delegates appropriately, may take on Charge Nurse responsibilities, and assists with orienting staff and students when a designated preceptor is absent. The position contributes to quality improvement by identifying potential policy revisions, applying evidence-based research and the Synergy Model in practice, analyzing data, and participating in efforts to identify and resolve improvement opportunities. Professional growth and maintaining required points and contact hours through the clinical lattice PLAN system are expected.
