About The Position

The Emergency Department Physician is responsible for practicing Emergency Medicine in an ethical manner consistent with the hospital vision and rules. This role involves providing the best treatment available to all patients regardless of their age, gender, race, and/or religion. The physician must maintain current knowledge and skills in emergency medicine, including BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications. Professionalism in behavior, attire, and reliability is expected, along with maintaining professional relationships with other healthcare providers, patients, and their families. Emergency Physicians are members of the medical staff and participate in their affairs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including EMTALA. The role also involves following documentation, coding, and reimbursement principles, adhering to American College of Emergency Physicians policies and protocols, and using appropriate patient handling equipment. Staying informed through meetings and reading relevant information is crucial. Reliable attendance, punctuality, and performing duties safely are essential. Other relevant duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid medical license.
  • Retain a current federal narcotics license number.
  • Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ Years of experience in a CAH (Critical Access Hospital) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Practice Emergency Medicine in an ethical manner consistent with the hospital vision and rules.
  • Provide the best treatment available to all patients regardless of their age, gender, race, and/or religion.
  • Maintain current emergency medicine knowledge and skills through independent study and continuing medical education activities.
  • Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.
  • Exhibit professionalism in the emergency department in regards to behavior, attire, and reliability.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with other health care providers, patients and their families.
  • Participate in medical staff affairs.
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with federal and state regulations including EMTALA.
  • Follow the basic principles of documentation, coding and reimbursement.
  • Work within the guidelines of the American College of Emergency Physicians policies and protocols.
  • Use patient handling equipment appropriate to the needs of the individual patient in keeping with the Safe Patient and Handling and Movement Policy.
  • Seek out needed information by staying informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timely manner.
  • Ensure reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, that are relevant to the position and department.
