About The Position

The Greeter welcomes and assists patients, their families, and visitors entering the emergency department. This role involves answering questions, providing information, and directing individuals within the waiting area to foster a caring and efficient hospital atmosphere. The Greeter will also perform clerical duties, including a quick registration process for patients.

Requirements

Mature, dependable, and caring individual.
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
At least one year of customer service experience.

Nice To Haves

BLS is preferred.

Responsibilities

Cordially greets visitors and patients upon arrival and ascertains their needs, directing them accordingly.
Assists patients and visitors by obtaining wheelchairs or other necessary services, and escorts or transports those needing help to their destination within the department.
Demonstrates a reasonable working knowledge of medical terminology.
Organizes, prioritizes, and completes daily assignments on time.
Remains calm and functions proficiently during stressful and/or emergency situations.
Accurately and completely inputs patient demographic information into the computer in a timely fashion.
Ensures that patient I.D. bands are applied as required.
Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
Performs duties with minimal supervision.
Provides shift hand off with the oncoming patient greeter.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Assists in the orientation of new personnel assigned to the unit.
