The Emergency Medical Technician I (EMT I) provides basic emergency medical care and transportation in accordance with applicable state laws, departmental policies, and established clinical protocols. This role operates under the direction of a Paramedic or clinical leader, supporting patient care within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department and ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of pre-hospital care. The EMT I is responsible for maintaining equipment, documenting patient information, and promoting safety and communication within the EMS team. Key functions include providing basic emergency medical care, assisting with patient assessment and vital sign monitoring, administering first aid treatments such as CPR, bandaging, controlling bleeding, immobilizing fractures, and assisting with breathing. The EMT I also operates emergency vehicles safely, conducts vehicle and equipment checks, maintains and restocks supplies, adheres to infection control procedures and proper PPE use, completes accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation, escalates patient care concerns, and collaborates with other clinical professionals for continuity of care.
