The Emergency Department Clerk position is part of the Emergency Department and is a Contingent role working approximately 24 hours per two-week pay period, with shift responsibility from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, including every third weekend and holiday rotation. Exact hours will be discussed during the interview.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Excellent interpersonal, intrapersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical environment
Above-average typing and computer skills
Strong organizational skills, prioritization abilities, and professionalism under stress
Customer service oriented and able to work collaboratively

Nice To Haves

Medical terminology knowledge and healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

Serve as a welcoming presence at the Emergency Department window and screen visitors per current guidelines
Perform a variety of secretarial/clerical duties including patient registration, insurance verification, and maintaining on-call book
Answer and triage switchboard calls
Prepare, compile, dismantle, and maintain patient carts
Complete and enter charges, maintain various Emergency Department logs, and assist with patient transfers and admissions
Support surgery check-in and other departmental needs as assigned
Perform other duties as necessary to ensure smooth Emergency Department operations
