Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of practice.
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role.
  • Basic computer skills and comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg independently and support up to 40 kg with assistance.
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with diverse individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program.
  • VTS in ECC, internal medicine, or anesthesia/analgesia.
  • Experience in emergency or specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a wide range of emergency cases, from minor to complex.
  • Collaborate with doctors and the team to deliver gold standard, emotionally intelligent care.
  • Perform triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.
  • Provide a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents during stressful times.
  • Keep people and pets together through tests and treatments.
  • Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments.
  • Administer medications, monitoring, and advanced treatments like IVs and CRIs.
  • Communicate effectively as a teammate and assist in shaping care plans.
  • Perform CPR and utilize advanced techniques such as central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds.
  • Conduct diagnostics, imaging, and sample collection.
  • Administer anesthesia, even for fragile patients.
