The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform supervisory, technical, and administrative work directing and overseeing the activities of communications center operators and dispatchers assigned to a shift. This includes answering emergency and administrative calls, providing oversight of pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions, and dispatching emergency response personnel using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and a land mobile radio network. The role also involves training dispatchers and operators, monitoring radio and telephone traffic, conducting quality reviews, performing employee evaluations, and other public safety communications supervisory duties as assigned. This classification reports to and receives general instructions from the Emergency Communications Center Manager.
