About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a full-time Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Representative (Dispatcher) to work in our New York, NY location. This role will cover the overnight shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10 pm to 6 am. Under general supervision, the Emergency Communications Center Rep. coordinates and serves as a resource for daily operations of a program or service. Act as a liaison between program or service and its internal and external partners. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

Requirements

• High School or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
• Prioritize and plan work activities.
• Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Maintain confidentiality and work with integrity and ethics.
• Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate telephone dispatch (taking calls from the public, fellow Red Cross employees, Red Cross volunteers, as well as fire/police/911 dispatchers).
• Coordinating emergency responses.
• Reporting and keeping detailed records of services and calls.
• Implement and coordinate the day-to-day functions that support program or service operations.
• Develop workable program or service implementation plans.
• Support leadership in coordinating casework activities.
• Respond to general inquiries.
• Schedule and coordinates requests for community-based presentations.
• Participate on small scale projects which require researching issues, information, data collection, and development of recommendations.
• Support leadership in coordinating educational and outreach programs.
