About The Position

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Emergency Communication Officer. This role is part of the Human Resources (HR) employment process, which involves screening applicants to ensure they meet minimum job qualifications. Applications are accepted only for posted positions, and some may be open until filled or considered permanent postings to maintain a pool of applicants for future vacancies. Applications must be complete to be accepted and will only be considered for positions that are currently posted. Incomplete applications will not be processed further. The application process involves several steps, including requesting an application, completing a Personal History Questionnaire, undergoing a preliminary background check, taking various tests, participating in an interview, completing a full background check, and potentially receiving a contingent employment offer which may include pre-employment medical testing.

Requirements

  • Complete and submit an application form.
  • Complete the Personal History Questionnaire in its entirety.
  • Pass a preliminary background check.
  • Achieve a minimum score of 35 WPM on a typing test.
  • Achieve a minimum score of 80 on the CritiCall exam.
  • Pass the CritiCall exam, which assesses multitasking, data entry, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Pass an interview with the Interview Board.
  • Successfully complete a full background check.
  • Pass any required pre-employment medical testing, such as a drug screen, physical, and/or psychological test.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule pre-employment medical testing (drug screen, physical, psychological) for conditional offers of employment.
