With continued resources and support, direct mentorship, and a wide variety of cases, the clinician will graduate from the program with the ability, confidence, and emotional resilience to not only continue, but truly enjoy a career in veterinary emergency medicine. The program provides mentorship and resources that reinforce and foster qualities known to increase the success and personal satisfaction of clinicians in an emergency setting.

Requirements

  • Early career veterinarians
  • Interest in emergency medicine
  • Successful completion of a Background Check screening prior to first date of employment.

  • DVM, 10+ year ER experience (Director of the Emergency Department)
  • DVM, DACVECC (Medical Director)
  • VTS certified LVTs

Responsibilities

  • Gain proficiency in emergency medicine in an efficient, medically advanced, financially responsible, compassionate, and emotionally healthy manner.
  • Develop the ability, confidence, and emotional resilience to continue and enjoy a career in veterinary emergency medicine.
  • Participate in didactic learning focused on emergency and other relevant topics.
  • Engage in cadaver skills labs, point of care ultrasound training, CPR training and certification.
  • Complete self-assessments and individual goal-oriented training.
  • Participate in self-preservation training (life/work balance, avoiding burnout and fatigue, stress resilience).
  • Engage in communication and leadership training.
