About The Position

At RTX, the Embedded Software Security Engineer will help develop and support security software for deployed sensor systems on various platforms. The role implements software security principles across embedded software design, development, integration, and testing of real-time sensor software. It develops applications using multiple programming languages and computing platforms, ensures Software Product Assurance processes are followed, and considers the performance impact of security implementations in real-time software. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional Engineering teams to define and implement Test Driven Multidisciplinary Capability (TDMC)-based development and deployment requirements, and works in a common development environment to support program use of shared capabilities. The position is onsite at RTX’s El Segundo, California campus and requires an active, existing Secret security clearance on the first day of employment.

  • Experience developing and testing or debugging software using C, C++, or a similar object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Perl.
  • Strong object-oriented design knowledge.
  • Active and existing Secret-level security clearance required.
  • Education or on-the-job experience in one or more of the following: real-time operating systems (RTOS), kernel or device driver development, software integration, or hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
