About The Position

Spin Master is seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer for a contract position. This role involves developing firmware for complex electro-mechanical devices from prototyping through full production. The engineer will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable C/C++ and Assembly code, interpreting schematic and PCB designs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure system-level designs meet requirements. The position also requires managing firmware projects, researching new embedded technologies, and supporting manufacturing and quality assurance activities. Collaboration with external software and app vendors is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Professional experience in embedded software development and electronics hardware design
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Assembly for embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer or similar schematic capture and PCB design tools
  • Strong, systematic troubleshooting and debugging skills using standard laboratory equipment
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion to support product development and manufacturing activities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with app development

Responsibilities

  • Develop firmware for complex electro-mechanical devices from early prototyping through full production
  • Write clean, maintainable, and extensible C/C++ and Assembly code, including test sequences for prototypes and production units
  • Interpret and contribute to schematic and PCB designs for electro-mechanical systems
  • Deliver high-quality firmware solutions to Engineering, Design, and Brand teams to meet development-phase milestones
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system-level designs are cohesive, meet requirements, and stay on schedule and on budget
  • Manage tasks and firmware projects while providing clear documentation, risk assessments, and engineering-driven recommendations
  • Research new embedded technologies and propose cost-effective applications for both emerging and established product lines
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance teams to support reliability, validation, and safety activities
  • Collaborate with external software and app vendors to ensure seamless integration between hardware, firmware, and application layers
