About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer with strong knowledge of RF design and SW integration, specifically for individuals who are US Persons and have experience in defense programs related to Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS) products such as TCAS/ACAS, Transponders, and DME. The role involves leading teams, ensuring organization, and adhering to standards like DO-178C and DO-160G (EMI). You will be responsible for SW Requirements Development, working with C, C++, and Assembly languages, and experience in DAL A software development is crucial. This position requires experience with code reviews, software development tools, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines, along with a solid understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles. Familiarity with avionics functions, Navigation, and Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT) is essential. The role also includes managing project risks, implementing mitigation strategies, preparing planning and certification documentation, and ideally, experience working with Defense Customers. You will lead and organize the RFIO SW Dev team, interface with HW and FPGA teams, and may involve flight test experience, including understanding wiring diagrams and system inputs for aircraft modifications for testing. Experience with engineering tools like MontaVista, X-Stream, Jira, and Bitbucket, as well as understanding build processes and compiler settings, is also expected.

Requirements

  • Worked or working in defense programs for CNS (Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (TCAS/ACAS, Transponder, DME etc., products)
  • Strong knowledge of RF design and SW integration
  • Experience with leading teams and well organized
  • DO-178C
  • DO-160G (EMI)
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Assembly
  • Experience working in DAL A software development
  • Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines
  • Understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles
  • Experience with various application areas supporting Avionics functions, Navigation and Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT)
  • Experience with Jira, Bitbucket

  • DO 254 (exposure only)
  • Flight test experience (wiring diagrams for aircraft vs inputs from diff systems to know what planes can do and modified for test)
  • Experience with engineering tools (montpa, x-scribe, managing and developing other tools to help)
