About The Position

The Embedded Software Engineer – DevOps will build and own the continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test-automation infrastructure for embedded motor-control products. The role partners with firmware and hardware engineers to automate a largely manual build-and-test process and create fast, repeatable pipelines from code commit through validated firmware image. The engineer will design and maintain embedded-firmware pipelines, automate cross-compiled build tooling, provide test-automation infrastructure, integrate code-quality tools, and manage artifact versioning and release traceability. The position also focuses on improving build and test speed, reliability, and developer feedback, documenting the infrastructure, and working with firmware engineers to make code testable and troubleshoot failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with test-automation tools and frameworks.
  • Strong scripting skills, such as Python or Bash, and comfort automating build and test tooling.
  • Experience with Git and branching and release workflows.
  • Experience building CI/CD for embedded software, or a background or working familiarity with embedded software development, including cross-compilation, toolchains, and flashing or debugging target hardware.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to work across the software and hardware boundary.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building CI/CD or test automation specifically for embedded or firmware projects with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Familiarity with Texas Instruments C2000, Cortex-M85, and C29x DSP microcontrollers and the Code Composer Studio toolchain.
  • Familiarity with EtherCAT and EtherNet or other industrial fieldbus or real-time communication.
  • Experience with containerization, such as Docker, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Exposure to functional-safety or regulated-industry development processes and traceability.
  • Experience with static analysis and coverage tooling for C/C++.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded firmware, covering builds, static analysis, unit and integration tests, artifact management, and releases.
  • Automate the build toolchain for cross-compiled embedded targets and maintain reproducible builds across developer machines and CI runners.
  • Set up and maintain test-automation infrastructure, including unit testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test rigs where applicable.
  • Integrate static analysis, code-quality, and coverage tools into the pipeline and make results visible to the team.
  • Manage artifact versioning, release packaging, and traceability from source code to deployed firmware.
  • Improve build and test speed, reliability, and developer feedback loops.
  • Document pipeline and test infrastructure for team use and extension.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers to make code testable and triage pipeline and test failures.
