About The Position

GeoControl Systems, Inc. is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer for its JETSII Contract with GeoControls, supporting NASA Johnson Space Center Engineering Directorate. The role designs, develops, integrates, tests, and delivers embedded software for spacecraft flight and ground systems, covering the full software development life cycle from requirements definition and architecture through design, implementation, verification, deployment, and sustainment. The engineer works closely with hardware and electronics designers and owns software from concept through delivery to hardware. The position requires the employee’s home address to be in a qualified HUBZone; only applicants meeting this condition will be considered. The employee must be a U.S. citizen, able to complete a U.S. government background investigation, and willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center and/or an associated facility. The posting is advertised at multiple levels, and candidates may be considered at any advertised level depending on experience and business needs.

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2–5 years of experience in the field or a related area (EN2).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Proficiency with the full embedded software life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Proficiency in C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Experience with firmware development, embedded software, and hardware/software integration on microcontroller or embedded processor platforms.
  • Experience developing device drivers and interfacing with hardware using common serial and bus protocols.
  • Experience with software testing and verification, including unit and integration testing of embedded software.
  • Experience debugging embedded systems using lab equipment and debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and coordination skills, with a strong customer service attitude.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with customers and team members.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple actions and short- and long-term projects.
  • Must be willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center and/or an associated facility.
  • Must reside at a home address in a qualified HUBZone.
