Embedded Software Engineer II

Brady Corporation•Boston, MA

About The Position

Brady Engraving Solutions is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, architect, and maintain high-performance embedded systems and edge-compute platforms for next-generation industrial laser marking products. This full-stack embedded role spans low-level CPU firmware, real-time control, edge AI acceleration, custom Embedded Linux distributions, low-latency vision pipelines, embedded web applications, and industrial networking. The engineer will own hardware-software partitioning, interface contracts, device driver development, and system security compliance. The role leads end-to-end feature development and software lifecycle delivery, from technical requirements definition and system design through unit testing, cross-functional integration, and production release deployment. It includes building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, static analysis, and automated testing; developing and debugging real-time, multithreaded firmware in C and modern C++; customizing Embedded Linux distributions, drivers, and system software; and collaborating with hardware, software, and optics teams on board bring-up. The engineer also implements security features such as secure boot, root of trust, and OTA updates; designs low-latency camera vision pipelines for edge vision and laser alignment; and optimizes ML inference runtimes for sub-100ms latency on edge AI frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and maintain high-performance embedded systems and edge-compute platforms for industrial laser marking products.
  • Evaluate and partition hardware-software components across edge-compute and controller platforms.
  • Own hardware-software partitioning, interface contracts, device driver development, and system security compliance.
  • Lead end-to-end new-feature development and lifecycle software delivery, from technical requirements and system design through unit testing, cross-functional integration, and production release deployment.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, static analysis, and automated testing.
  • Develop and debug real-time, multithreaded firmware in C and modern C++.
  • Customize and maintain Embedded Linux distributions, custom drivers, and system software.
  • Lead board bring-up in collaboration with hardware, software, and optics teams.
  • Implement security features such as secure boot, root of trust, and OTA updates.
  • Design low-latency camera vision pipelines for edge vision and laser alignment.
  • Optimize ML inference runtimes to achieve sub-100ms latency on edge AI frameworks.
