About The Position

Join a mission-focused engineering team developing embedded software and firmware for advanced defense and national security applications. This early-career engineering role is designed for a capable software engineer with a strong foundation in C/C++ who can contribute to embedded systems, work close to the hardware, and continue building technical depth alongside experienced engineers on mission-critical programs.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship and a current, active DoD Secret security clearance are required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent relevant technical experience may be considered.
Foundational embedded software or firmware development experience gained through professional work, internships, academic projects, research, or other hands-on technical experience.
Working knowledge of C and/or C++ and fundamental software development concepts applicable to embedded systems.
Familiarity with low-level hardware interfaces, device drivers, memory mapped I/O, peripheral interfaces, or interaction between firmware and higher-level software.
Ability to implement, test, and debug well-defined embedded software or firmware features with technical guidance.
Familiarity with Git or another modern source-control system and the ability to follow established coding, documentation, and configuration-management practices.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies, hardware platforms, and technical domains.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with embedded Linux environments and hardware/software debugging is preferred.
Experience with AMD/Xilinx SoCs, FPGA-based platforms, or similar programmable embedded hardware is highly desirable.
Experience with defense, aerospace, communications, cybersecurity, RF, FPGA, or other mission-critical embedded systems is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, test, and maintain embedded software and firmware supporting defense and national security programs.
Development and debugging of embedded software and firmware using C/C++ for processors, controllers, and embedded computing platforms.
Low-level hardware interfaces, peripheral interaction, device drivers, and software components that connect embedded hardware with higher-level applications and system functionality.
Embedded Linux development and troubleshooting, including command-line tools, build environments, system configuration, and application-to-hardware interaction where applicable.
Hardware/software integration and debugging using laboratory tools, logs, test equipment, and systematic root-cause analysis.
Unit, integration, and system-level testing to verify software behavior, interface performance, reliability, and correct operation on target hardware.
Source control, code reviews, issue tracking, documentation, and other established team development practices.
Collaboration with embedded software, FPGA, hardware, RF, cyber, and systems engineers to understand requirements, interfaces, constraints, and implementation approaches.
