About The Position

As Embedded Software Architect / Lead Developer, you will shape the software architecture for power electronics solutions across our transport and stationary HVAC portfolio. You will provide technical direction for design, development, and deployment of embedded software used in components such as variable frequency drives (VFDs) and their integration into higher-level control systems. Combining deep technical expertise with architectural leadership, you will support solutions from concept through production and throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in software development, preferably, with a focus on architecture and system design.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, communicate and maintain software architecture for complex systems, making use of established patterns and modeling languages.
  • Demonstrated experience developing embedded control systems, handling memory, performance, real-time and peripheral constraints.
  • Hands-on experience with ARM-based MCUs/MPUs, such as STM32 or , Renesas RA, and DSPs.
  • Familiarity with real-time critical applications, ideally but not necessarily in the power electronics domain.
  • Strong C/C++ skills for embedded systems and professional use of toolchains, debuggers and profilers.
  • Experience with low-level firmware, register access, interrupt handling, peripheral drivers, board commissioning and hardware analysis using equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Confident use of Git, Make/CMake or comparable build systems, automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of code-quality practices, static code analysis as well as unit, integration and system testing.
  • Experience in applying relevant coding standards and development process models, solid understanding of functional safety and embedded cybersecurity.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably at least three years of experience in a technical leadership role such as , architect or comparable senior role.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in leading design reviews as well as communicating technical decisions and their context to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, balancing architectural purity with pragmatic delivery.
  • Proven experience in mentoring and developing engineers.
  • Professional background in power electronics is highly welcome.
  • Experience with model-based design methodologies and tools such as Simulink or PLECS.
  • Experience with agile or iterative development methodologies.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and tools, including AI/ML applications in embedded systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee software development for power electronics and power management devices, including firmware stacks, controller applications, system-control integration and development tools.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, configurability and quality through architecture design, code reviews as well as appropriate testing and CI/CD strategies.
  • Guide and support the developers in our teams in creating maintainable, reusable and extensible software and robust technical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with our hardware engineers, influencing future designs including the selection of MCUs / MPUs and peripheral ICs.
  • Coordinate software developers, security engineers and external specialists to ensure software releases comply with applicable cyber security and functional safety standards.
  • Work closely with the product owners and business unit stakeholders, coordinating the technical implementation — from architectural decisions to product launch and life cycle support.
  • Monitor technology trends, evaluate components, tools and methods, and contribute appropriate innovations to the roadmap.
  • Promote pragmatic and responsible use of AI across the software lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, deployment and monitoring.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and additional location-specific benefits.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits and programs.
