About The Position

The Embedded Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control systems for novel, lightweight wind turbine technology. This role involves developing and maintaining C/C++ applications for real-time control, monitoring, and data acquisition, focusing on embedded systems. The engineer will also perform simulations and modeling of control algorithms, collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams for hardware integration, and develop test plans to validate performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Demonstrated capability with C/C++ programming for embedded and real-time systems
  • Experience with motor controllers, generator controls, and power electronics is highly relevant.
  • Familiarity with Simulation Tools like MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling software.
  • Demonstrated vehicle-level and systems-level knowledge to confidently execute to plan but also fill in the gaps or solve complex issues in real time.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for novel, lightweight wind turbine technology.
  • Develop and maintain C/C++ applications for real-time control, monitoring, and data acquisition, focusing on embedded systems.
  • Perform simulation and modeling of control algorithms.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to integrate sensors, actuators, and power electronics.
  • Develop test plans, conduct engineering tests on prototypes, and analyze data to validate performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative concepts and solutions.
  • Conduct analyses to optimize designs and ensure performance.
  • Oversee the fabrication, planning, and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure functionality and performance.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost effective.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Integrate with safety critical systems by understanding failure modes, hazards analysis, and actions associated with real-time troubleshooting.
