About The Position

As our Embedded Device Lab Administrator, you will be part of a team of experts building a secure real-time middleware platform with extreme performance and scalability. As part of our distributed RTI Platform Team, your role is critical in enabling and maintaining our products across various platforms and systems. This position is based at our Sunnyvale, CA Headquarters and requires you to work onsite.

Requirements

Experience with hardware setup.
Passion for operating systems and embedded systems.
Strong Unix system administration skills.
Familiarity with system generation and configuration, including creating and configuring bootloaders, building and deploying Yocto images, and customizing system startup routines.
Good grasp of the fundamentals of Linux and day-to-day knowledge.
Ability to work successfully in a highly distributed team.
Must be a "US person" (US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) due to export-control regulations. Visa sponsorship or transfer is not provided.

Nice To Haves

Experience creating and configuring operating systems and kernels (e.g., QNX, VxWorks, Integrity, LynxOS).
Experience with embedded systems (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ARM Linux).
Solid experience with Linux/Unix/Windows/MacOS IPv4 network configuration, understanding of host routing tables, subnets and VLANs.
Experience with infrastructure automation frameworks such as Ansible/Puppet/Chef/Salt.
Familiarity with shell scripting (Python, Tcl, Expect, Perl).
Basic C programming knowledge and familiarity with makefiles.
Experience with 802.1q VLAN tagging, IPv6 and multicast.

Responsibilities

Bring-up and maintain the embedded systems in the lab at Sunnyvale HQ, supporting over 70 different architectures.
Create and configure bootloaders, build and configure embedded kernels involving a wide range of RTOS, and integrate into automation frameworks.
Work with OS and tools partners to address issues with their toolchains and operating systems.
Support fellow platform team members and the larger RTI development team with platform expertise.
Debug platform-specific issues, which may require adjustments to the embedded system or evolution of the automation infrastructure.
Ensure high availability of the embedded systems by enabling monitoring of the lab and automation.
Plan and execute upgrades to the embedded lab.
Partner closely with IT and other teams as part of a cross-departmental super-group.
