About The Position

SRC, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Design Engineer intern for Spring 2027. In this hands-on role, the intern will contribute to real-world FPGA and embedded engineering projects, learn from experienced mentors, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The work offers exposure to digital signal processing, high-speed communication protocols, and hardware interfaces. The intern will develop and verify FPGA solutions, apply programmable logic design practices, and use scripting languages to automate continuous development and integration workflows. The position is based in Syracuse, New York, and lists an anticipated pay range of $22 to $26 per hour. Actual pay may vary based on experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Travel is listed at 10%.

Requirements

Have completed two years of college toward a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
Have a minimum GPA of 3.3.
Have coursework or hands-on experience in digital design or embedded processing.
Have a strong understanding of digital logic principles.
Have strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Meet security clearance eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with VHDL, Verilog, C, or Python is preferred.

Responsibilities

Implement FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog.
Verify firmware designs through simulation and hardware testing, identifying and resolving design issues or bottlenecks.
Learn and apply best practices in programmable logic design and development.
Apply FPGA design principles, including RTL design, verification, logic synthesis, prototyping, and timing analysis.
Use Python, TCL, and other scripting languages to automate continuous development and CI/CD workflows.
